In the 1970s, Schecter was concentrating on parts, some of which were made in-house (some metal parts, pickups, etc.), some of which was outsorced. I had a 1984 Schecter Mercury (strat) that I purchased new at 48th guitars back in the day. It was black but I had it refinished in 2 tone brown sunburst. It looked great and played great but had a 1 5/8" nut width and I sold it about 7 years ago. That was a mistake.
